Glossary
Short definitions of the words you meet in the Raytha admin, in alphabetical order, with a link to the page that explains each one properly.
| Term | Definition |

| Admin | A person who can sign in to the Raytha admin at /raytha. What an admin may do depends on their role. Do not confuse admins with users. See Manage administrators, roles and permissions. |
| Asset | A file that belongs to a theme, such as a logo, stylesheet, script or font. Templates refer to assets with a Liquid snippet. See Themes and web templates. |
| Background task | A job that runs after you click, such as a CSV import or export or duplicating a theme. Progress appears under Background tasks in the sidebar. |
| Base layout | A web template that wraps other templates. It holds the parts every page shares, such as the header and footer, and marks where the page body goes with {% renderbody %}. See Overview of the built-in templates. |
| Choice | One option of a Dropdown, Radio or Multiple select field. Each choice has a label, a developer name and can be disabled. See Content types and fields explained. |
| Content item | One entry of a content type: a single post, event or product. |
| Content type | The blueprint for a kind of content. It defines the fields every entry has and how new entries get their web address. See Create or modify a custom content type. |
| Developer name | The short, lowercase identifier of a content type, field, view, theme, menu or template, written with letters, numbers and underscores (for example blog_posts). It is used in templates and in the API. For content types and fields it cannot be changed after creation. |
| Draft | A saved but unpublished set of changes to a content item or site page. Visitors keep seeing the last published version. See Revisions and publishing. |
| Field | One named piece of data on a content type, such as Title or Event date. Every field has a type. |
| Function | A short JavaScript program that Raytha runs on a request, from a template, or when content changes. See Manage Raytha Functions. |
| Home page | The page visitors see at the root of your site. In the admin you set a site page as the home page. See Set a content item as the home page. |
| Liquid | The template language Raytha uses. Curly braces mark where data or logic goes. See How Liquid templates work in Raytha. |
| Main menu | The one navigation menu that templates can fetch without naming it. Exactly one menu is the main menu. See Manage navigation menus. |
| Media item | An uploaded file in the media library. Its object key is the internal name templates use to refer to it. See The media library. |
| Primary field | The single line text field that names each item of a content type: it is the item's title in lists, search and the default web address. See Content types and fields explained. |
| Published | Visible on the public site. Content items, site pages and public views each have a published state. |
| Revision | A saved earlier version of a content item, site page or template that you can revert to. See Revisions and publishing. |
| Role | A named set of permissions assigned to admins, for example Super Admin, Admin or Editor. |
| Route path | The part of the web address after the domain, without a leading slash. A content item, a public view and a site page each have one, for example posts/my-first-post. |
| Section | A named area of a page template where widgets can be placed, such as main or sidebar. A template creates a section by calling render_section("name"). See Site pages and the page builder. |
| Site page | A page built from widgets in the page builder, with its own title, path and template. |
| Template | Liquid markup that produces HTML. Raytha has web templates (whole pages), widget templates (single widgets) and email templates. |
| Theme | A set of web templates, widget templates and assets. Exactly one theme is active at a time. See Themes and web templates. |
| Trash | Where deleted content items wait. You can restore them or delete them permanently. See Restore deleted content items. |
| User | A visitor with an account on the public site (for example a member who signs in to see protected pages). Users cannot open the admin. See Create or edit a public user. |
| View | A saved list of a content type's items with chosen columns, filters and sort order. A published view has its own public web address. See Modify, create and publish a list view. |
| Web template | A template that draws a whole page: a content item page, a list page, a site page, a login page or an error page. |
| Webhook | A message Raytha sends to another system when something happens, such as a content item being published. See Webhooks. |
| Widget | A configurable block on a site page. Built-in types are Hero, WYSIWYG, Image + Text, Card, FAQ, Call to Action, Embed and Content List. See Widgets reference. |
| Widget template | The Liquid markup and the list of settings for one widget type. Editors fill in the settings; the template draws the result. |
